How It Works
If you’re interested in taking an oral sedative for a dental procedure, you will need to let your dentist know before making the appointment. We’ll have to get your complete medical history to determine if you're a good candidate.
You’ll take a pill about an hour before your procedure to keep you relaxed. This will generally be something in the benzodiazepine class. Oral sedation doesn’t put you to sleep, but you may feel drowsy. Someone will need to drive you to and from your appointment.

Oral sedation is great for managing anxiety symptoms before a dentist appointment, but it’s not recommended for everyone. You might not be the best candidate for this service if any of the following pertains to you:
Pregnant women
Bipolar disorder
