Emergency Dentistry

What is a dental emergency?

call now

There are a lot of different dental issues that may demand emergency care. As a rule, any oral health problem that’s causing significant discomfort counts as a dental emergency. This includes obvious emergencies like oral trauma that results in a cracked, loose, or knocked-out tooth, or lacerations to the gums and cheeks. However, lots of other issues also count as an emergency, including toothaches, pulled-out dental work, and tooth infections.

It’s always better to be safe than sorry, so if you think that you may need emergency dental care in South Florida, contact Midtown Dental Studio now to get assistance from Dr. Amador, Dr. Kerr and our expert dental team.

Is your issue a dental emergency?

Generally, anything related to facial trauma or a tooth becoming loose is a good reason to visit a dentist immediately. The following are other reasons you should call your dentist for emergency care:

  • Unbearable toothache
  • Uncontrollable bleeding
  • Painful cracked or fractured tooth
  • Tooth infection

There might be some situations where it’s more beneficial for you to go to the emergency room than the dentist. Certain kinds of facial trauma can make it difficult for you to breathe or swallow, and that’s when you should go to the hospital. If you have any life-threatening issues, we encourage you to call 911 or visit your nearest emergency room.

extractions

Extractions, or tooth removal, are sometimes necessary to maintain your oral health and prevent further complications. While preserving natural teeth is always a priority, situations may arise where extraction becomes the best course of action. At Midtown Dental Studio, our team of experienced professionals ensures a comfortable and seamless extraction process for our patients.

There are several reasons why a tooth extraction might be recommended:

Severe Decay or Damage

Teeth that are extensively decayed or damaged beyond repair may need to be extracted to prevent the spread of infection.

Crowding:

Sometimes, tooth overcrowding can impact orthodontic treatment, necessitating the removal of a tooth to create space for proper alignment.

Infection or Abscess:

If a tooth is infected or has developed an abscess, extraction might be necessary to prevent the infection from spreading.

Impacted Wisdom Teeth:

Wisdom teeth that are impacted or causing pain may need to be extracted to alleviate discomfort and prevent oral health issues.

At Midtown Dental Studio, your comfort and oral health are our top priorities. If you believe you might need an extraction or have any questions, please don't hesitate to schedule a consultation with our experienced team.
